Planting Plants in Spring
________________
Potted plants can be planted in the spring or fall. Best to prepare your hole as soon as you get your plant, taking care to disrupt the roots as little as possible. If your soil is not great, add some potting soil to your hole or some other additive and check the pH. (There are home testing kits) if not around 6 (not higher) add some garden lime or dolimite. Peonies grow best in the ground but if you wish to keep in patio pots, use a large (10 or more gallon) pot. Make sure the pot has good drainage and remember to water more often than those in the ground.
See “Planting Roots in Fall” for care once in the ground.
