The color/variety I need is done blooming by the time I want it. What are my options?
You can pick as buds $2 and store in a refrigerator, reclip bottom of stems and put in water 2-3 days before your event. If not opening fast enough, warm your water, put in sunny window. Opening too fast, set in cooler spot, put back in refrigerator but with the vase of water. The speed of opening depends on how long they have been in refrigeration, and the variety. The longer they have been in storage, the less time it takes to open. This is not an exact science, all depends on variety, how tight they were picked, how long in storage. Rule of thumb, don’t store longer than 2 weeks overall. Some do better than others.
If you want us to pick them but you take with you and store yourself, $2.50 stem.
If you want us to pick and store them, $3.00 stem. Because we have limited cooler space, we will only hold up to 1 week.
Why aren’t my peonies blooming?
Are they planted too deep? (top of root should only be 2″ deep) They also need full (or almost) sun and space around them. Also don’t plant them in a spot in the yard that sits in water over the winter. Fertilize spring and fall, but don’t overdo it. (See plant care)
Do you sell anything but peonies?
We have an artist friend that designs greeting cards. Check out her artwork cards on the farm or on Facebook: Living Paper Designs or email her at Teresabradybral@gmail.com. 503-351-5098.
